Dining
It's pretty hard to go wrong when it comes to dining in Puerto Escondido, however I have compiled a list of restaurants and cafes which we have enjoyed or that have been recomened to us. Included is a wide variety covering breakfast, lunch and dinner, from casual hangouts to more upmarket restaurants.
Espadín
One of the more upmarket restaurants, Espadin sits up on a hill overlooking Playa Carrizalillo. If you're going to visit, make sure to get there in time to watch the sunset.
La Mariinera
Located under the palm trees on the north end of Zicatela beach, this restraunt is a really great place to relax and watch the sunset after a long day of swimming. The prices are very reasonable. We loved the prawn curry and tostadas!
The Fish Shack
If there's only one thing that you try in Puerto Escondido, make it a fish taco. The fish tacos are generally good all over Puerto but The Fish Shack is definatly a popular spot. This place is super casual with limited seating options. It's set in an ally just off the beach in La Punta, it's great for a quick taco and beer fix.
El Cafecito
Located on the main strip at Zicatela Beach and open from 6am-10:30pm everyday, El Cafecito is a go-to spot for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They serve Mexican classics as well as western favourites for affordable prices.
Chicama
Located in La Punta, Chicama specialises in peruvian fusion. If you're not familiar with peruvian cuisine, think of it as sashimis spicy cousin with a tropical twist. Despite being a bit pricier than other restaurants, Chicama is our favourite spot for dinner in Puerto, they also offer some great vegetarian meals!
Agua Sala
If you're looking for a beach view without all the sand, then Agua Sala is the restaurant for you. Located along Zicatela Beach, they're open everyday from 1pm-11pm (excluding Tuesdays) serving up mexican classics as well as hamburgers and salads to satisfy those western cravings.
Pinches Tacos
Another taco spot! Pinches tacos, located in Rinconada, is a well know spot in Puerto. Located on a main street lined with plenty of other popular restuarants, it's open from 3pm-11pm everyday (except Tuesdays).
Mundaka
If you feel like Italian food, Mundaka in La Punta has got you covered. Offering pizza, pasta and great cocktails, they're open every day 4:30pm-11pm. They also have large tables which are great for groups.
Spirulina
Located just off the main strip at Zicatela beach, Sipurina offers an extensive menu. They are known for their healthy menu, smoothie bowls and fresh juices. Spirulina is open everyday (except Tuesdays) from 8am-11pm.
